In 1990 David began an apprenticeship with Stair and Handrail Queensland. 5 Years later he would start his own staircase and colonial manufacturing business in Gympie after becoming the head supervisor.

 

Under the supervision and training of an ‘old school’ Master craftsman Val Sowden, David spent 5 years learning the art of designing and manufacturing a range of artefacts including:

 

• Internal and external staircases – polish grade to carpet in hardwood and softwoods

• Internal and external Balustrade and handrail

• Archways, Finials’, Veranda doors and frieze panels

• Solid timber doors and bench tops

• Custom mouldings and timber dowel
   

David become a skilled and competent craftsman himself specialising in building beautiful internal and external staircases. His skills as a craftsman evident in the near perfect joints and attention to detail.
 

David has custom built and installed 100’s of staircases for commercial and residential properties between Hervey Bay and the Gold Coast ranging from carpet/polished grade internal to hardwood external.
 

He still practices the craft today, accepting custom work of interest.
